The theme of structure runs like a red thread through the artist’s work.

Nature and history, often in combination, form the intellectual basis of her works, which are usually executed in large cycles, and determine the choice of motif. Her works have been very successfully presented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad and have received several awards.

These ink drawings were created during an artist-in-residence stay in the wide landscape of Mecklenburg (D). Huge fields without any noteworthy elevations form predominantly horizontal, vibrant lines, in which the regular rhythm of the machines working on them is engraved, as it were. Churches built in typical brick Gothic style remind us that the development of this granary was also a project of the Christianisation of north-eastern Europe. The title “Give us today our daily bread” refers to its meaning as a symbol of Christ and also includes its function as a basic foodstuff.

All drawings are executed with straws or ears of wheat. Umbra (burnt earth) was applied as ink on Chinese paper, the result is always presented on the back. In this way, the drawings adapt the classical reverse glass painting and create an enormous depth effect with a very strong material character despite the fine paper. Stubble fields, furrows in the fields, round bales and yarrows of straw are taken up as motifs, but allow far-reaching associations due to the very reduced and abstract implementation.
